Fine Motor Skills
As part of their morning self-registration routine, our children are supported to select from a variety of carefully planned activities that develop fine motor skills. The children use our 'Morning Planning Board' to make their own choices and will, over time, develop autonomous learning. Staff use considered questions which enable children to talk about their choices and to talk about what they are doing. Even after a few days of implementing this routine, staff have observed that most children naturally extend their 'on-task' learning and levels of concentration. Those children that require a little more support to persevere are encouraged to engage with their choice of activity and to become really involved in their learning. As the term progresses and the children become more familiar with this routine, we will offer new challenges to extend experiences and to extend children's ability to reflect on their learning and review their progress.
