Catholic Social Teaching (CST) is the way the Church helps us to live like Jesus by caring for people and the world around us. It gives us simple rules to follow so that everyone can live with dignity, peace and fairness.
The main principles are:
Dignity of the Human Person – Every person is special and made in the image of God.
Family and Community – We belong to families and communities; we are called to look after each other.
Rights and Responsibilities – Everyone has the right to what they need to live, and the duty to help others too.
Option for the Poor and Vulnerable – We must put those who need the most help first.
Dignity of Work – Work is important, and everyone should be treated fairly.
Solidarity – We are one big family, no matter where we come from.
Care for God’s Creation – We must look after the world God has given us.
