At St George's we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. This comprises of Prime Aeas of learning and Specific Areas.
The Prime Areas of learning are:
All need to in place before the children can successfully achieve in all other areas of learning. Children need to be able to make relationships and play together and share, before they can then play imaginative games or make and maintain friendships. They need to be able to speak and make themselves understood before they can talk about things they notice in the world around them or explain an idea to another person. Children also need to develop strength in their hands, wrists and arms before they can attempt to write.
As well as helping children to achieve in all of these areas of learning we also help the children understand how they learn. We observe their characteristics of learning and encourage them to explore, make links, think critically and choose their own ways of learning.
